Condolences

The Dachshund Club of Queensland is deeply saddened by the passing yesterday of Val Bowden. Val was a long time Life Member of our Club.
Together with Val Lingard she produced many champion Miniature Smooth and Miniature Long Dachshunds under the “Valgarden”  prefix.
Val was an active committee member of our Club and was always available to share her knowledge of Dachshunds with new members and new exhibitors in the show ring.
She was a member of the hugely successful 2009 National Show organising team and was always actively involved in Club Events such as Fun Days and other Club functions.
Val will be sadly missed.

Val’s funeral will be held at the Mt Gravatt Crematorium, Mains Road, MacGregor at 1pm on Wednesday January 23rd.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

The Dachshund Club held it’s Christmas Lunch at the Durack Tavern yesterday.
A good turn up of members attended the function despite the poor weather.
A nice time was had by all with plenty of chatting and laughing away from talking about our dogs.
It’s important also that we remember those of us who are not well at this time. Our thoughts are continually with you.
The Dachshund Club wishes our members and their families a wonderful Christmas and we also hope that the New Year is a Prosperous and Happy one for all.
Please take care of yourselves and drive carefully and safely if your travelling.

Sausage Sizzle

Saturday January 12th 2019 is the date for our first sausage sizzle in 2019.
It will take place at the Bunnings Store in Mt Gravatt. The address of the Bunnings store is:-   Corner of Creek and Wecker Roads, Mt Gravatt, QLD, 4122. (Please note that on some GPS maps the suburb is listed as Mansfield.)
This is a great opportunity to promote our Dachshund Club to the public and of course to raise funds in support of Club activities.
However, sausage sizzles require a team effort so it’s important that the Club has help to share the load during the day when there is a constant stream of customers lining up for their delicious snacks and drinks.
So if any members and/or their family and friends can donate just a couple of hours of their time on January 12th 2019 please let the Secretary Joan Cross know as soon as possible. Joan can be contacted at dakleydachshunds@yahoo.com.au.

Condolences

In the past few weeks the Dachshund Club of Queensland has received very sad news from within the Dachshund community.
In late November our Vice President, Gyll Hoyle lost her husband Graeme after a courageous fight against a very rare form of cancer in his back.
Although Graeme wasn’t involved in showing Gyll’s Miniature Wire Haired Dachshunds he was always there with Gyll at Club functions. Graeme was a very skilled man and put his skills to work by not only building his own aircraft but also building two magnificent Morgan cars.
On November 26th 2018 a celebration of Graeme’s life was held at the Mount Thompson Crematorium where over 100 family and friends attended.
Condolences are extended to Gyll and her family. Graeme is sadly missed.

The Dachshund Club of Queensland also wishes to extend condolences to Madison Galloway who lost her Mum Leanne last weekend from cancer.
Madison is Loraine McMaster’s grand-daughter and is an accomplished junior handler of Loraine’s Miniature Smooth Dachshunds.
Unfortunately, Madison has not been able to attend many shows recently due to her mum’s illness.
Our thoughts are with Loraine, Madison, her sister Kasey and their dad Rick.
